Tuyere stocks are critical mechanical links that transport hot blast air (reaching temperatures between 1000°C and 1200°C) from the blast furnace bustle main into the furnace tuyeres. Because of the thermal expansion and high internal gas pressure, these assemblies require high structural rigidity combined with multi-directional expansion joints.
Excellors designs and manufactures premium, refractory-lined tuyere stock assemblies. In addition, we design and fabricate **PCI Lances** (Pulverized Coal Injection Lances) which are an important part of the Tuyere stock assembly, used to blow hot air and coal from the hot blast main to the blast furnace at optimum flow velocity. We also manufacture custom Above Burden Probes for gas and temperature sensing inside the blast furnace, ranging from simple to high-end designs.
Scope: Completed manufacturing and NDT weld clearance for a batch of replacement tuyere stocks for a major 3200m³ blast furnace facility.
Result: Outer steel shell temperature tests during hot operations showed a 15% reduction in heat radiation compared to the customer's previous design, improving surrounding workplace safety and extending bellow lifespan.
